PALM DESERT - An update on a new earthquake early warning system.

The CREWS quake system is already in place at our local fire departments and being expanded to schools throughout the valley.

A chief seismologist for the seismic warning systems, incorporated says the system worked as planned during today's moderate earthquake.

If we got hit with a major quake, the crews system would have given 15 to 20 seconds for thousands of school children to drop, cover and hold-on before the shaking started.
